(Natchez, MS) Getting There

December 19th, 2009

Map of Natchez

**DISCLAIMER**  All the wedding pages were written for our 2010 wedding.  They provide a great, brief view of travel to Natchez, MS and in Jackson, MS, my childhood home.  That’s why I’m keeping them up.

As beautiful as Natchez is, it’s a little hard to get to.  We believe it’s worth the trouble!  If you have the time, you should stay the weekend and explore the area.  Unless you are from Dixie, you may not have another chance to experience the special culture, climate and cuisine I called home for most of my life.

Jackson, MS (JAN) is 2 hrs (and ~26 min) away by car.

Baton Rouge, LA (BTR) is 1 hr 45 min away by car.

New Orleans, LA (MSY) is 3 hrs away by car.

Natchez is a lovely hidden gem; however, that does mean you’ll need a rental car to travel to and from the above airports.  One option to consider is carpooling–you can leave comments on this page asking for carpool mates, or contact us and we may be able to “steer” you in the right direction.

(thanks, Google, for the map)

Which one to choose?

If this is you ONE AND ONLY chance to see the South, then you should probably fly into New Orleans.

If you might have another chance to go to NOLA (New Orleans, LA for you non-natives), then consider flying into Jackson or Baton Rouge and going Off the Beaten Path to really get a taste of the South.  I’ve only been to Baton Rouge once, so I can’t give you any advice regarding what to see or do in that area, but my information regarding a driving trip from Jackson should be a starting place for planning your Journey into Dixie.
